Impact des JO 2012 de Londres sur la ville et la population en Général
1) Preamble :
The theme on English culture that I chose is the impact of the 2012 (two thousand and twelve) London Olympics on the city and the general population.
The Olympic Games are a world-class event. Every two years, every nation has the opportunity to compete against others by participating in these summer or winter sports Olympics. More than just a sporting event, the Olympic Games also have a significant impact on the economic, social and environmental life of society.
2) Impact on tourism :
The Olympic Games had a negative impact on tourism in London.
Hoteliers, restaurateurs, directors of theaters and shops are almost unanimous in complaining of a decline in activity.
London's activity is down from 20 (twenty) to 40 (forty) percent during the Olympics.
During the games period, there were only 750,000 (seven hundred and fifty thousand) tourists.
It is interesting to note that an event of this magnitude increases the number of visitors to the city by 25% (twenty-five percent) in the year following the Games, but falls during the Games. In general, the Olympic Games are seen as a great opportunity to modernize, develop and make a region more attractive.
3) Impact on the London economy :
The budget for the London 2012 (two thousand and twelve) Olympic Games is 13 (thirteen) billion euros :
• 7.8 (seven point eight) billion for transport,
• 1.2 (a comma two) billion for the Olympic stadium,
• 675 (six hundred and seventy five) million for the Olympic Village,
• $ 670 (six hundred and seventy) million for security, $ 98 (ninety-eight) million for ceremonies (opening and closing).
The capital generated by the Olympic Games must come from :
6 billion pounds from foreign countries
4 billion economic outflows
2.3 billion tourism increase
1 billion additional sales of British companies
Following the Olympics Games, tourism would increase by 2.3 (two point three) billion.
The Olympics Games have had a positive impact on Britain by allowing, among other things, the fall in unemployment.
