MTS Test Procedure
Login modes (Application Mode 🡪 Boot Mode 🡪 Testapp Mode)
Application mode
1: Open terminal software
2: Connect to Service port of BR/TSC
3: Press enter key
4: Enter username and password (motorola)
You are now in Application Mode and the prompt is “BR)” or “SC)”
To get from Application mode to Boot Mode
1: Type reset (ENTER)
2: Hit ESCAPE before the *** runs out! (to go back to Application Mode let the *** run out without hitting any keys)
3: Enter username and password (motorola)
You are now in Boot Mode and the prompt is “BR>” or “SC>”
To get from Boot Mode to Testapp Mode
1: type testapp (ENTER)
WAIT FOR TESTAPP TO LOAD AND PROMPT TO APPEAR

2: Type login -ufactory (ENTER) password factory
You are now in Testapp Mode and the prompt is “factory>”
To get from Testapp to Application Mode type reset -oplatform and do not hit escape, but let the *** run out.
Start of Site Controller Test Procedure
PSU CAN Bus Commands
PSU = Power Supply Unit
Use the PSU CAN Bus Commands to verify the state of the Power Supply Unit.
1) psu <PSU number> get alarm
Indicates a problem if any of the fail fields displays: YES.
Example:
DC in fail: YES – indicates battery failure.
For an MTS not equipped with backup battery it is normal behavior and does not indicate any malfunction.
AC in fail: YES – indicates no or too low AC input voltage.
2) psu <PSU number> get status - Shows the status of all power sources (AC/DC, in/out).
Fans CAN Bus Commands
Use the Fans CAN Bus Commands to verify the state of the Cooling Fans connected through CAN Bus.
1) psu <PSU number> get fan_config - Shows the number of fans installed in the system.
2) psu <PSU number> get psu_temperature - Shows the Power Supply Unit temperature. Indicates a cooling problem when the displayed value is higher than the threshold programmed as acceptable in the site controller.
IMPORTANT
ONLY if the power supply is new, check that the fan configuration matches the actual number of fans in the system. If needed, use the psu
Examples:
psu 1 set fan_config 1 1 1 - to define three fans present on PSU1.
psu 1 set fan_config 1 1 0 - to define fans present on PSU1 Fan 1 and 2, and no fan present on Fan 3.
psu 1 set fan_config 0 0 0 - to define no fans present on PSU1 etc.
DPM CAN Bus Commands
Use the DPM CAN Bus Commands to verify the state of the Digital Power Meter.
DPM = Digital Power Meter
1) dpm <DPM number> get alarm - Shows all the alarms related to the DPM. VSWR alarm: YES - alarm can indicate a broken antenna. (VSWR = voltage standing wave ratio – ratio of reflected power)
2) dpm <DPM number> get fwd_power - Indicates a problem with the connection between the DPM and Base Radio if the reading is lower than expected)
ONLY ON AN MTS 4: ATCC CAN Bus Commands
Use the ATCC CAN Bus Commands to verify the state of the Cavity Combiners.
1) atc <ATCC number> get alarm - Indicates a problem with the Cavity Combiner if there is at least one Cavities VSWR Alarm.
e.g. atc 1 get alarm
2) atc <ATCC number> get cav_status<cav_number> - Shows the ATCC status. Use this command for each Cavity Combiner.
e.g. atc 1 get cav_status 1 or atc 1 get cav_status 2 etc etc
Other CAN Bus Commands
1) can check_mapping - Lists the registered, unregistered and unknown devices connected through CAN Bus.
Indicates possible cable corruption If there are no devices present.
NOTE: Map all the not mapped devices.
Configuring and Verifying the Site Controller
The Site controller (SC) setup and checkout procedures specify steps that verify operation within the Site Controller.

Setting Up the Site Controller
Prerequisites: ONLY If an MTS or Site Controller is moved or new, clear the site location memory to force the stored position data to be re-initialized. Do not do this procedure if the MTS has not been moved or has not been fitted with a new Site Controller.
Enter the site_location -reset command on the Site Controller terminal whilst the MTS is running in application mode.
- At the prompt, enter status sc —all
The command displays preliminary diagnostics information on the Site Controller. This includes the health of the Site Controller, the trunking state, the internal state and the site link status.
- Use the command status bts command to check site alarms.
Site Reference Check
Verify the GPS Receiver status as follows:
1) At the prompt type: status sri
Verify that:
• GPS State is GPS 3D FIX or GPS POSITION HOLD depending on the type of GPSR (internal/ external)
• GPS Operating OK is YES
The GPS LED will flash, satellite tracking commences and will be fully on, once GPS is fully tracked.
