For one week I tried to adopt a waste-free lifestyle and now I will explain the changes I made and the difficulties I faced.
Firstly ,I have started composting my food waste to make fertilizer for the vegetable garden.
This reduces almost all food waste while eliminating packaging for fertilizer.
In fact, I have tried to eliminate as much packaging as possible by refusing disposable items like straws, coffee cups and plastic bags. I have refused single-use and excessively packaged items, as well as items that I don't need.
Then I tried to find second-hand items instead of buying new ones.
I was also able to buy items in bulk using my own jars. For drinks and milk I used returnable glass bottles.
Moreover, I bought items made from natural and sustainable materials to avoid any plastic.
Adopting a waste-free lifestyle has been difficult for me because I don't have access to bulk shops or farmers' markets near my home. In addition, I had to use my car to get to these kinds of shops where I could buy products with minimal packaging. Making my own cleaning products was a problem for me as some of the products I needed were in plastic containers.
It has also required me to be careful with everything I buy.
In conclusion, although this lifestyle took me a long time to research sustainable alternatives to single-use plastic, I felt proud at the end of this challenge to have reduced my waste considerably compared to before. . It opened my eyes to the excessive consumption of plastic in our daily lives. So if you want t do this challenge, don't hesitate. All actions are welcome to build a world without waste.
