We live in a society were everything is going faster. The globalization pemitted us to acquire all we want, when we want. But there is consequences. So, we can ask : Rethinking our consumption habits is-it possible ? We will see that in one hand a change is required and in an other hand that changing our way of consumption is not without consequences.
Firstly, we have to rethink our consumption habits. Indeed, we are facing the Global Warming and if we want to live on an healthy earth we have to decrease our surconsomation society. Some changes have been adopted, for example, according to an article from The Guardian by Lauren Cochrane, the consumption of clothes is changing. Fast-fashion move on to the “preloved” fashion. It shows the understanding of the importance of the sustainability in our world. Generation Z which is the most impacted, is the largest consumer of secondhand clothes. The latter have many ideas of actions and measures to promote a new way of consumption. However, only changing the fashion consumption isn’t enough, indeed, it’s the whole society which have to be changed. Starting with the Fairtrade for exemple, which is a model of consumption more sustainble. It is encourages better environmental practices.
But, actually, changing our way of consumption is’nt without consequences. Everything is impacted by the globalisation. The latter permitted to increase living standards, more particulary in poor and developping countries, where a lot of people suffred from poverty and stop that could be devastating. For exemple, TNCs help countries by providing new jobs. In addition, The world becomes a Global Village where everything is shared, ideas, experiences and lifestyles of people and cultures, so the change required reflexion in order to avoid negatives impacts.
To conclude, we have to rethink our consumption habits, but we also have to pay attention the positives impacts that have globalisation in order to conserve them. The future is the concession between sustainbility and human needs.
