Que peux faire l’Etat face a la libre circulation des armes ?

After all we have said, I know what you are thinking : what is the State iwaiting for to act ?

Well, in reality, it’s not as easy as we think.

Previously, we have talked about the gun lobby, and this is one of the reasons why the State can’t act so easily.

In fact, in the USA, the gun lobby is so strong that if a politician fight against it, it will be hard for him to be re-elected.

We are always in the same situation : a politician who tries to change something that is part of the culture of the country, is afraid of not being re-elected.

Let me give you a few examples of politicians fighting against individual liberty of owning a gun. let’s start a match between the gun lobby and politcian :

We start first with J.F Kennedy, who really tried to fight against the gun lobby and finally… he was shot by gun ! What a horrible coincidence !

Then, G.W. Bush arrived at the power but, unfortunetly for the opposant of the gun lobby, he was part of the NRA and wasn’t against the free movement of arms…

Finally, Obama became president. This is a subject particulary close to her heart, so he tries to fight against the gun lobby, by trying to pass a maximum of law.

But, like its predecessors, Obama must strike a balance between the laws against the gun lobby and the protection of its voters.

But he fights hard, and finally, some law have been adopted the last few years.

Finally, we can see that the struggle is very hard, because even if some politicians have made a lot of promises about that subject, it’s really difficult for them to follow their idea, because the lust for power always takes over.
