Mercedes-Benz Announces the Acquisition of Express Motors, the Leading Manufacturer of Engines

Stuttgart, Germany: January 8, 2020.

Mercedes-Benz recently announced the full acquisition of Express Motors, the primary supplier of its cars brand engines. The board of directors of Mercedes-Benz met on January 7. The board has approved this acquisition, which will still be subject to the approval of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and regulatory authorities.

Mercedes-Benz's decision to acquire Express Motors is based on the fact that it is the leader in engine manufacturing. The company is known for its durable and innovative car engines, and also its efficiency.  The decision of this acquisition would benefit both Mercedes-Benz and Express Motors. The company will, from now on, have its first 100% made Mercedes engines, and Express Motors will start operating exclusively for Mercedes-Benz. The German car manufacturer  bought Express Motors for $1billion that is the equivalent of $20 per share. The deal will be 70% financed by cash and the remaining 30% by equity.

The rationale behind this acquisition lies in the multiple synergies to be created in the car manufacturing sector. Mercedes-Benz is looking to be more efficient and effective in producing cars. Also, reducing the costs in terms of producing car engines which will result in a more affordable final product and an increased profit margin. Our performance will be enhanced since Express Motors is only producing engines for Mercedes-Benz. This synergy will undoubtedly allow Mercedes-Benz to grow as a company by exclusively producing engines to the German company.

Following this acquisition, Mercedes-Benz is hoping to develop a new zero-emission engine with Express Motors to follow the latest "Environment-Friendly" trend. Dieter Zetsche, one of Mercedes Benz's CEOs, commented, "This acquisition will open up new growth opportunities for the company. Mercedes-Benz cares about delivering a product to the customers which meets their expectations, and respects the environmental issues we are currently facing. For that, both companies engineers are working together to come up with a new "ecological" engine that will revolutionize the automotive sector in Europe."
