- Welcome dear viewers, today I have the honour of receiving on my set the director of the national security agency, Mr Paul Nakasone. Mr. Nakasone, I am therefore very happy to see you today.

- Good evening to all of you and thank you for inviting me for this interview. I hope that you will be satisfied with my answers because indeed I can’t say everything.

-That’s right.I would like to introduce you first quickly :

You were born in 1963. You come from an American family. You joined the army and became a four-star general in the United States Army. Today you are the Director of the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Central Security Service.

- Yes! This position gives me a lot of responsibility and a lot of influence on the government.

- Indeed, we are going to focus on the change you brought about when you became Director. I would like to start by asking you a question: Why did you want to abolish the mass surveillance systems used by the agency?

- Yes, that's right. This is a good question and it’s mainly due to a former CIA agent that you should probably know.

- Surely Mr Snowden.

- Exactly. I arrived at the NSA only two weeks before Edward Snowden decided to reveal the existence of mass surveillance to the world in 2013, and that changed a lot.

- I remember this event very well, it was in June 2013 and it made a lot of noise all over the world.

- Yes, these revelations put the government under pressure after all the demonstrations and the fury of states around the world. After these events we were forced to abolish all these programmes.

- It's unbelievable! Finally, I would like to know what you think of Snowden's actions?

-- I think Snowden's act was very brave. He defied the American government alone. Everybody at the NSA knew what the NSA was doing but nobody talked about it. And that's normal, you make 50,000 dollars a year and you travel everywhere. Who would want to lose everything? And Snowden gave it up and revealed the world what he knew. He did that because he wanted people to know the truth.

- Thank you very much for all these answers. It was a pleasure to have you. Goodbye, Mr. Nakazone.

-Thank you very much for this moment. It was a pleasure to be here.
