Should abortion be legal?

When we ask this question, we usually find ourselves also talking about “the legal time limit for abortion”. Now, why is that? Most of us feel that what is inside of a woman’s womb is or will at a certain point be like us (alive, a human being, a person, or maybe just something that can feel pain). Most of us feel that what’s inside of a woman’s womb either has or will reach a point where it must have the same rights we have. Now, if you’ve noticed we’re not talking about those who want to be able to have abortions one minute before having a baby; these people are a tiny minority. But most of us, feel that okay once it starts kicking, starts reacting or feeling pain… it’s pretty much alive and pretty much a baby.

What’s we’re really debating is: When does life start? When should we feel that we need to protect what’s inside a woman’s womb?

Well, when does life start?

“Living cells grow and multiply.” …Within twenty-four hours of conception the zygote is dividing rapidly into many cells which will differentiate to form different parts of the human body. Dead things do not do this. Dead cells do not replicate their DNA and multiply into more cells. They do not differentiate to become a brain, a heart, the liver, the skin, muscle and bone. Life begins at conception, when the fertilized egg begins to grow.

When should we feel that we need to protect what’s inside a woman’s womb?

If we start talking about personhood, consciousness or other things we might end up saying that none of us really had the right to live, when do we become persons? are we really conscious?  Why don’t we just protect life.
