SHOULD TEACHERS BE ARMED IN SCHOOLS

Today’s presentation deals with arming teachers in schools. As we know, in the USA there are a lot of young people who have guns on them. It is becoming a real problem for the american society that these youngters can have guns and use them as well.

In an article of BBC is mentioned the case of a gunshot between teenagers outside a school in Benton, Kentucky. The boys involved in this story are all 15 years old. There were two killed and one arrested.

I would mention an another case in Parkland, Florida  where at least 17 people have died after a 19-year-old ex-pupil opened fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

 Speaking from the White House, President Trump suggested allowing teachers to carry concealed weapons.

These weapons would be used to maintain students and teachers security. One of the advantages of using guns is that it would increase protection among the students and teachers. As we know, everything has some disadvantages too. One of the disadvantages of teachers carrying guns is that they have to find a place to put their gun which is really hard. They have to hide their gun so none of the students know if their teacher has a gun or not. An another disadvantage is that teachers can experience traumas because they shoot dead one of their students.

In order to make them carry a gun, every teacher should be well trained so there are no mistakes while stopping an attack. Untrained individuals are much more likely to shoot a bystander, a police officer or a child.

Holding and using a gun is actually what solders do and to manage really good a gun, solders have done a lot of work. What we are trying to do with this law, is that we are actually trying to make teachers play a little bit the role of a solder in the society.

I think that the best thing to do is to prohibit young people having guns. I would mention Minnessota where a 14 years old boy can actually have and use a gun. So I think is really more important to make laws which prohibit them from having guns.

Comparing today’s tematic with France, I don’t think that teachers actually need to be armed. Firstly, there is not so many gunshooting in schools as in USA or maybe there isn’t any and secondly the laws are more strict which they totally prohibit people under 18 having guns.
