Should christian holidays be supressed in Mayotte ?

1) Reflect the cultural, religious and historical characteristics or specificities in these departments.

First of all, In Mayotte, Islam is practiced by 95% of the population.

There are hundred of Mosques and every village has at least one mandatory.

Phenomenon quite singular in Mayotte's Islamic world, the society is paradoxically based on a matriarchal model and the transmission of property is done in a matrilineal way. Islam is present in every moment of life: school, marriage, justice, ceremony, food.

Dalil Boubaker, president of the French Council of the Muslim Faith said in Le Parisien : "I would not be shocked if they had their own holidays. This text has the merit of asking the question".

2) The holidays are already not the same everywhere in France.

On the other hand, In Mayotte the French secular Republic and the laws recognize officially Islam as the religion of the island and Islamic law is partially applied. Thus any person born on the territory may choose in Mayotte between local law and common law.
