Dear Sir,

By sending you this letter, I would like to submit my contribution to your article about Wikileaks, in The Sydney Morning Herald.

Firstly, I thought about a very important thing in my mind  : freedom of speech. Actually, Wikileaks could be the definition of freedom of speach. I thought they were just releasing informations that everyone on this earth should be authorized to know. For exemple, in 2010, Wikileaks released a video showing Iraqis and journalists being killed by an american helicopter. This war implicates the United States of America, so aren't american citizens in their rights by seeing this video  ? Yes they are. Because it is about their country, and they have to know what is really happening. Also, it seems that this website can really help the national security with the informations and data they get. And the safety of people is the most important thing, with no doubt.

But in the other hand, isn't it a bad idea to show this type of things to people  ? There is a government with qualified individuals, so, shouldn't we just trust them  ? I mean, if the president of the United States of America decided not to show this video to people, it is probably because there is a reason.

Isn't the main activity of Wikileaks actually just showing and sharing terribles videos, pictures and informations, letting people live in fear  ? Isn't it sometimes just invading private life by releasing some private data  ? For exemple, last year, Wikileads published some pirated e-mails from the account of John Podesta, the campaign manager of Hillary Clinton. If Wikileaks is able to do that, this also means they can show whatever they want to us. This type of incident reflects poorly on Hillary Clinton, and it happened only few months before the elections. Maybe did Wikileaks find some compromising informations about Donald Trump too, but they chose to not release these informations. We can never know.

This is why the strength of Wikileaks figureheads and their capacity to obtain informations which only they can obtain, is a huge power. But with great power comes great responsibility, and the problem is that they can choose what they hide, and what they reveal. So they can influence decisions and they can affect a lot of things. To conclude, I genuinely think Wikileaks should be limited.
