décembre 28th, 1855

I 'm very sick, I think I will die soon so I decided to written this diary to leave a trace...

It's the beginning: September 11th, 1855

It was finally the big departure for America. My two children, my husband and me leaved in the new world. We took large boat.

October 10th, 1855

We are very tired, there's hardly to have any food and water. We didn't know before we went that this trip will be so difficult.

October 12th, 1855

After a long time, my family and me arrived finally in the west. We were in a countryside next to Chattahoochee in the California.

We purchased a home, we had money because we salled our other house in England.

So we installed in a camp with other British.

October 16th 1855

Once installed, I started to work. I was fisherwoman. The life in the west was much different compared the life in England, because for example: There was not yet the school for the children, so I had to teach them. Another example: in England, I didn't use to work like most of wife while I use to work with my husband.

November, 1th 1855

The life in the west started to be hard; my family missed me even if we sent each letters regularly.

November 12th 1855

I was fishing when a Indian arrived. He was very tall, there were a lot of feathers but he wanted to kill me because he thank that I robed all fishes so he couldn't feed his family. I trail to explain but didn't have the same language. To reassure him, I gave my catch of the day. He has happy so he didn't kill me! Phew!

December 29th1855

This diary was finished, my mother died this night,
