- INTRODUCTION
Girls' education is one of the problems that currently preoccupy all of humanity; the schooling of young girls, especially in rural areas, constitutes a major problem for this category of the population. It continues to be unfairly discriminated against because of their gender. They are deprived of education because they are born "girls". In the following lines, we will give you the causes and the consequences.
- CAUSES OF THE LOW REGISTRATION RATE OF GIRL AT SCHOOL
Girls around the world and especially in developing countries continue to be unfairly discriminated against because of their gender. They are deprived of education because they are born "girls". There are many obstacles to their education.
- Cultural traditions
In some societies, girls are seen as a burden on the family. Their education therefore does not matter because their destiny is to be married young and take care of household chores and children. So, the parents refuse to send the girls to school because they are expected to marry and leave the family home to settle in his home. So why school her if she has to get married? For the parents it is an unnecessary expense. The money for schooling will be invested for her wedding.
- Ignorance of laws and rights
Parents, sometimes having never been to school themselves, do not question the discrimination linked to cultural traditions of keeping girls out of school. In some countries, violations of girls' rights are so widespread and normalized that penalties are rare.
- Poverty
Families in extreme poverty cannot afford school fees for their children, and if they can, they often choose to send their sons to school rather than their daughters.
- Violence at school and on the way to school
Girls, more than boys, are exposed to mistreatment, physical and moral violence and sexual abuse at school, from educational staff or boys, and on the way to school, leading many parents to withdraw their daughters from school.
- Health risks
Physical and moral exhaustion due to forced labor, recurrent pain due to domestic slavery, early pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections following sexual violence, and female genital mutilation prevent them from having a normal schooling.
- Early and Forced Marriage
The girls are usually out of school to support their husbands, take care of household chores and take care of children. Forced marriages keep girls in a lower status than men. These force teenage girls out of school. They are the consequence of early and forced marriages, sexual violence and lack of access to contraception and abortion.
