Assignement : Is it important to question the ideas and decisions of people in positions of authority ?

In all states, there is an institution which controls everything and set rules so that everyone can live together. This institution exists not only in states but also at school, at work and there is someone who controls it. However, sometimes it’s necessary to challenge what people in authority claim to be true. But it is important to questions the ideas and decisions of people in positions of authority? First, we’re going to see that it’s definitely important to do it. And then we’ll see that people can live without it necessarily.

On the one hand, questioning the decisions of people in positions of authority is important because when this people tell us that we can’t do this or this, we respect what they say blindly. This is not acceptable because we don’t need someone to tell us what is wrong or what is right and even less someone who forbids us from doing some actions. I guess that everyone respects rules at work, at school and everywhere. But these rules, far from making us happy, aim at limiting our freedom and prevent us from doing what we want to do. So yes, it is very primary to challenge people in positions of authority because sometimes they abuse with their power and make us do what they want. And this is contrary to their role because they sometimes invent rules and restrictions that don’t have to exist.

On the other hand, we don’t have to challenge this people because without them, the world will not be what it is today. I mean if everyone could do what they want without having limits, the world would go crazy and there will be disasters everywhere. Let’s take the example of drivers, if they didn’t learn to drive and learn the rules by heart, there will be lots of accidents because people don’t communicate when driving, they just apply the rules they learn during their exam of driving. And this case in particular drives to lot of dead people and chaos all over the world. People need rules to “communicate”. It is not only in this case that we need rule but in general. If they were no rules and no one who punish the persons who disobey this rules, everyone could kill who he wants or go outside naked or doing even more unsavory actions. But thanks to people in positions of authority, these persons are punished and the world is quite in peace. Without forgetting that if people in positions of authority tell us that doing this thing is dangerous, it’s that they really mean it and give us advices for our welfare.

In conclusion, even though everyone have to question the ideas and decisions of people in positions of authority because everyone is free to do what he want but we must not forget that without these rules, the world would be a very different place where everyone does what he want without fearing this punishment of someone. So we need these persons in our lives for our welfare and the welfare of everyone.
