-The document is a painting by Norman Rockwell. This painting was used for The Saturday Evening Post magazine like a lots of his painting especially the four freedoms who is probably his most famous work. This painting is oil on canvas, he make him in 1954

Girl at mirror (1954)

The background is dark to highlight the purity and innocence of the little girl. Norman Rockwell want probably to show us that the right part represent the youth and the left part represent the adult age because often the youth is a time of peace and innocence on the contrary the adult age is a dark time who peoples are obsessing to make money only. The girl is probably afraid by this. If this supposition is true,we can say that Norman Rockwell is a committed artist.

We can imagine the girl was not able to see herself entirely and ask someone to put it there. She looks rather sad and anxious, probably wondering about childhood and femininity. I think that Norman Rockwell used the mirror, not as an accessory but as a revealing centrepiece. The mirror shows us something that maybe we wouldn’t see or couldn’t see without it.

We can suppose that this is a teenager who see him in the mirror because The back of the girl reflect as a teenager back, in addition to that the dole picture and the make up show us that she became a pretty woman. Two epochs confront each other, that of the child player and bit rough and that of the woman more strict and refined. She see herself young afraid because she is not ready to be this woman another his doll is putting on the ground. She are going to became this woman because she don’t have the choice. She must to go back in the code of the society to be accepted by everybody. She don’t choice to live like so she don’t live truly

This painting want to demonstrate that the society have a powerful influence on us and in is painting, he show us the femininity who is imposing to the girl especially during the youth and on the education especially in time of teenager
