What are the causes that lead to the increase rate of deforestation?

The evolution of technology has reached a point where pretty much anything is available at the touch of a button. Now, we can access everything and even conduct our daily activities (shopping, working, and entertaining) from the comfort of our homes. While doing a research analysis on climate change, I have learned that deforestation was one of the most prominent cause of this phenomenon. I then decided to dig more into this issue. “Deforestation: Before they chop, you can stop” is the topic I chose among the list of the different factors of climate change that was suggested to me. When doing the Research Question Module assignment, I thought about different aspects of deforestation which are its causes and its effects. After tweaking this topic, I came up with the following research question: “What are the causes that lead to the increase rate of deforestation?”

Deforestation is a global issue that has done a detriment to earth environment for many years. More recently, deforestation has been moving to an extreme rapid pace. As the society becoming more and more modernized, countries around the world are turning into industrialized nations at a very high rate (University of Michigan). With this rapid growth, countries have seen that an increase demand for urbanized area will “cater” to the increase in population, technological advances and the economic demand. For those reasons, deforestation is being a big issue. Millions of acres of forests are cleared every day due to an increase in demand for room, food, fuel and logging purposes. My goal in writing a research-based argument on this topic is to show the factors that increase the rate of deforestation and to propose solutions to eradicate this issue.

I chose this topic because the issue of deforestation is a topic that a lot of people are ignoring and neglecting. My objective is more general. I think that revealing the actual reasons of deforestation to my audience will allow them to know more about its real factors and to be aware of the degree to which this issue is a big threat for our planet for the upcoming years. Global warming will also become an eminent issue if people do not stop cutting down trees.

In order to accomplish my goal, I will follow two major axes. My research document will first consist on showing the major causes of deforestation. In the second part of my research document, I will give some solutions to stop this issue. My research plan will be based on credible research journals that ties together documents, articles news and reference. Some of the articles are sometimes dense but I believe that they will help me out to write this paper.

The need for mining is one of the reasons for the clearing of trees. In the article “Causes, Effects and controls Strategies”, Sumit Chakravarty with his coworkers Gopal Shukla and Gosh mentioned that mining is very destructive. They consider mining as a lucrative activity that promote “development booms” which attract population growth with deforestation.
