In this extract, we learn that the author of the play "Betroffenheit", Jonathon Young, recounts a terrible accident he experienced and witnessed. It happened while he was on vacation in Vancouver, accompanied by his 14-year-old daughter and her two cousins. Unfortunately, the cabin in which the children were sleeping caught fire in the middle of the night. Jonathan rushed to get them out, but it was already too late. The flames were immense, and they were already dead.
Jonathon Young then wrote this play entirely dedicated to this tragic event. The play explores themes of grief, suffering, trauma, addiction and recovery. He did not produce this play for therapeutic purposes, only for artistic reasons. He and his co-creator insist that their play is "anti-therapeutic". The experience made him feel more alive, more present. It has also enabled him to make progress in his personal life.
Jonathan Young is against his piece being called therapeutic. The idea repels him. He and his co-creator have argued that the piece is anti-therapeutic because they feel they wouldn't be able to do "the work that we need to do with art, which is to balance the particular with the universal". But as far as his personal life is concerned, art has helped him to recharge his batteries and feel more alive. Producing his play and performing it made him feel better.

In this second text on the use of art to protest against climate change, opinions are ambivalent. Some are against its use for climate change, others are for it.
In fact, in this text we discover two different groups of opinions. The first we're going to look at is the one in favor of using art as a means of protest. Art has always played an important role in cultural awareness. Climate change is no exception. In the early days of the arts, the "Grand Genre" represented only paintings of stories telling of very important events. Today, art too has become an important and controversial subject in the arts. Art that doesn't adapt and evolve to the changing times in the world is a sleepy art, which is why climate change is now represented in more and more works.
However, some remain convinced that art is detrimental to climate change. One of them, Christopher Monckton, said of the winning entry in the recent Anglia Ruskin University Sustainable Art Prize that it was a death threat. And those who say didactic art is bad art. De plus the social licence to operate, and normalisation that such cultural relationships gift to oil companies, can dissipate the urgency for action and sponsorship can seek to directly influence the climate debate.

The theme we're studying, "Art and Debate", is reflected in both documents, but how?
In the first document, the "Art and Debate" theme is represented by the fact that Jonathan Young's play is being debated by the public. They believe that his work is therapeutic, through the transmission of emotions and the various themes it tackles, such as suffering, grief, trauma and so on. Everyone wants to know how the author plays this scene, how he feels, how he uses art to convey his ideas.
In the second document, "Art and Debate" reflects the debate that has taken shape since the arrival of the theme of climate change in the field of art. With its controversial opinions, climate change has been the subject of much discussion since its arrival, and this document shows us the different
