SYNTHESE NOTION DES LIEUX ET FORMES DE POUVOIR

I would like to illustrate to notion of places and forms of power. I am going to try give a definition of this notion.

For me, the notion « places and forms of power » deals with that the power is the ability to act in order to achieve a set goal. It can be both a source of integration and a creator of conflicts. That’s why the idea of power implies that of a counter-power, which makes it possible to limit or even resist the power that is established. Differents forms of power exist like the journalist power, political power or the art power with the caricature for example. These forms can be exercised in a democracy like in France or United States. Nonetheless, others politicals regimes exist like dictatorship in North Korea, where the form of power is excerting harshly.

These political systems can practice an abuse of power like the discrimination or the segregation. An opposing power can be applied like the manifestations, the rebellions or the disobediences.

The power is established in places of power. It's the symbolics places of the exercise of the executive power, legislative, judicial, media, financial... like the White House, the Parliament, a court, or the Pentagone for example.

How civil rights young activists have succeeded to bring many changes against inequalities and the American system?

Fisrt of all, a fisrt document « Port Huron Statement », it show us and denounce the situation in America with the goal to change the american system which has integrated lot of inequalities. This manifesto is a call for action to make young people move since it’s the generation who is more engaged in the 60s. This generation realized that in United States, there were lot of paradoxes. Indeed the declaration of Human Rights establish that all men are created equal but segregation is deeply inequal. Moreover they proclaimed peacefull intentions however they did military investments in the cold war and the Vietnam war.

These wars have provocated many reactions for young people. In many festivals for example, in Woodstock in 1968, a committed song was sung by Joe Mc Donald. This singer denounce a war wich deprives young people of their futur, who interrupted their studies for a unnecesary war according to the young people. Because this war is based on money and profit.

The segregation is also very important, as we prove the speech of Martin Luther King. He denounce the separation of black and white people in public places since the black people are considered as a second rate citizens that's why they doesn't have the right to vote. He denounce a huge flaw in this american system with these inequalities not merited. One more time, the young people will join for this fight for that civil rights apply to all american citizens.

In conclusion, the young people have participated considerably for reduce many inequalities between the american citizens, peacefully, with sings, demonstrations... They have also massively militated against the cold war and mostly the Vietnam war, who was for them, unnucesary. Support of this generation has been decisive for the American history.
