Fête belle-mère

Dear Najatte,

Today is very special. We celebrate you: a wonderful person who has the kindest heart and a person who welcomed me in her life the minute we met. You deserve the best Najatte because you have always given yours to the ones you love. Words cannot describe the gratitude I owe you for your unconditional support, your wise advice and all the joy you bring to my days.

You have faith in me and that is the greatest gift you could give me. To believe in me. That is why I am never going to let you down and try hard to make you proud. I am so fond of our complicity and yet, I am sure it has not finished growing. I feel safe with you and I trust you completely with my life.

You inspire me to be bold and confident. I watch you being so devoted to the happiness of our family and I truly admire you for that. If I have a family on my own one day, I know that if I am even half of who you are, it will be okay.

I learn so much from you.

How patience brings us only good things.

How taking on responsibilities and initiative makes us strong.

How love transcends everything.

I have so many good memories with you and I cherish them so much. I remember the first time I saw you, you looked at me with a big warm smile and you were full of cheerfulness. I remember going in the Ferris wheel in York Beach with you and I was so happy you were with me. I loved spending time with you and I still do of course. You make me laugh so much.

You have always taken a step of love, a step of affection and a step of concern to make me feel loved. You care for me as though I am your blood. It is not necessarily easy loving another woman’s child like your own, but you do it so effortlessly. You will never be my biological mother but you are sure as hell my mom in many other ways. You are constantly there for me, you worry for me, you understand me so much and I can always rely on you.

You are a true woman, a role model for me. It is true because I become a better person by only following your example everyday. I am the luckiest girl in the world to have you in my life. You have been so good to me and I have a responsibility to show you every now and then how much I appreciate you. And I do, so much! I could never thank you enough for all you did for this family. You certainly complete it.
