Britain should it join the euro ?

In 1999, Eurozone has created by 11 countries : Germany, Austria, Belgium, Spain, Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, joined by Greece in 2001, Slovenia in 2007, Cyprus and Malta in 2008 and Slovakia in 2009, Estonia in 2011 and Latvia in 2014. Entry Lithuania is officially from 1 January 2015. The notes and coins circulating since 1 January 2002. Britain is part of the European Union but not the Eurozone. Britain has always refused to join the euro. In Britain, public opinion is not ready to join a new currency, people are very attached to their currency: the pound sterling. Presently, British 8 out of 10 don’t want the single currency. There is true debate about British membership. Several political like David Cameron, the UK Prime Minister, don’t want to join the euro. He said “would never join the euro”. In 2011, David Cameron was disagreed with Angela Merkel and Nicolas Sarkozy about the euro. Currently, the situation hasn’t changed. In contrast, Michael Heseltine, a British politician who opposed to Margaret Thatcher and his polity qualified of “Eurosceptism”, said in the interview “One day Britain will join the euro”. Indeed, there are many benefits for UK if adopting euro. No transaction costs is the most obvious advantage. It would be profitable for European tourists and for European businessmen. There are also disadvantages like the Sensitivity of changes in interest rates. This is the main reasons as to why UK chose to stay out of Euro. There are pros and cons, for me, it’s mainly a political history.
