Founded in 1919 by a polytechnician named André Citroën, Citroën is a French car manufacturer.
Following the First World War, its shell production plant was transformed into a large-scale motor vehicle manufacturing industry. The Citroën type A is the first prototype to come out of it. It is the first car to be built in series production and will sell more than 10,000 units in one year.
In 1924, Mr Citroën worked with an engineer from the United States who developed steel bodywork for locomotives and railways. Citroën then created the first completely closed bodywork made of steel. It was a revolution for the time.

In the 1970s, the acquisition of Citroën by Peugeot led the French automaker's automotive structure to a new organization: the implementation of the Japanese Toyota model.
Citroën will gradually integrate the Peugeot brand, both in the manufacturing process and in its organization.
After having failed in an alliance project with the Japanese company Mitsubishi and then in a second with an American group, PSA in 2013 found itself isolated and bankrupt due to the automotive crisis in Europe. However, it needs money to renew its ranges, launch new technologies and go into markets where it remains weak. The French car group's worldwide volumes fell by 4.9% in 2014. The State and a Chinese group are helping him.
Peugeot and Citroën will indeed undergo a drastic reduction in the number of their models by 2022. They want to implement a more targeted product strategy in order to focus their resources on cars that people want to buy.
The number of models in the group will decrease, from 45 in 2014 to 38 in 2016, then 26 in 2022. For each historic brand, there will be a two-for-one split, with Peugeot increasing from 25 to 13 models and Citroën from 15 to 7. However, this does not mean that the rate of new model launches will not be high.

Technology is at the forefront at PSA Group, since the Peugeot brand designs ultra-efficient engines using current technologies. For example, the 308 1.6 BlueHDI has a combined fuel consumption of 3.2 Litres per 100 km, while knowing that it develops a maximum power of 120 horsepower.
The PSA group wishes to intensify its digital transformation to become a company connected to its customers, a manufacturer at the forefront of efficiency as well as a mobility provider around the world.
To achieve these objectives, PSA Group relies on efficient digital processes offered to customers such as, for example, autonomous car sharing, car sharing, carpooling and the Internet of Things.
PSA Group thus wishes to position itself as a key player in the evolution of mobility needs.
