Project Management

Q1. Formulate your own definition of what is meant by the term Project Management.

Project management is for me the fact of managing human resources, financial resources, and material resources to carry out a project. While respecting deadlines, costs and dates. In project management, indicators are often put in place based on the project's purposes, such as the quality of the product

Q2. Outline why, in your opinion, the concept of PM is important?

Project management is important to structure and give a basis to the project. This allows you to set up a hierarchy and to start the various tasks of the project correctly. Thanks to project management, we are setting up milestones that we will have to respect in order not to be behind on the project. I don’t know if during this module we will learn how to use project management software. But these make the teams more efficient by facilitating communication, the execution of different tasks, the management of the work to be carried out and the follow-up.

Q3. Outline how expect a formal study of PM will help you in the future?

Project management will be useful for my apprenticeship at PSA since when I return to the company I will integrate the project team of a new Opel/Vauxhall vehicle that will be released. I will have to support my manager in the management of this big project. I think I should probably use the basics of project management

Q4. Provide a suitable formal definition of Project Management and its associated Harvard Reference details.

Definition

Project management is the application of processes, methods, skills, knowledge and experience to achieve specific project objectives according to the project acceptance criteria within agreed parameters. Project management has final deliverables that are constrained to a finite timescale and budget.

A key factor that distinguishes project management from just 'management' is that it has this final deliverable and a finite timespan, unlike management which is an ongoing process. Because of this a project professional needs a wide range of skills; often technical skills, and certainly people management skills and good business awareness.
