At the beginning of July 2018, Lyon Capital and Le progrès (two French newspapers) revealed the existence of an Excel file in which the students of emlyon business school campus in Ecully were rated on their physique.

This document, called "Pipos 2K17 Wall", listed the names, first names, ages, email addresses and Facebook accounts of more than 250 female students on campus.

In addition, each student was associated with a rating, ranging from 2 to 19 out of 20 and sexist comments on her physique, character and even sexual practices.

Some examples of comments that can be found on the Excel document:

"Bimbo marked, she wants ass"; "I pay all the student parties to the one who screws her"; "she had a cleavage on oral day, it's indecent".

The male students of the school shared this Excel file via a closed Facebook group, once accepted into this group, they could consult the file and update it as they wished.

However, the system is not only for male students, according to Lyon Capital, the emlyon female students would also have their Facebook group allowing them to rate male students.

As the emlyon was already in the spotlight after the revelation of several recordings of the courses given by Laurent Wauquiez a few months earlier, the company's management indicated that it took the matter very seriously. As of August 20, an internal procedure had been put in place to clarify the situation and summon the students involved to a disciplinary council.

The emlyon had already had to deal with various other sexist or hazing cases, in particular one year earlier with the discovery of the "Kikanikéki" file (listing and recording all "loving" relationships between classmates, with the intention of revealing them to the whole school) the company should have made a preventive control in order to take the necessary measures to improve the situation and thus predict future scandals.

According to Bernard Belletante (General Manager of the emlyon), such practices do not correspond to the company's "early maker" culture and philosophy.

To avoid this problem (and avoid any new scandals), emlyon business school very quickly acted by setting up a retroactive control, the WEIs on the Paris and Saint-Etienne campuses were cancelled and student evenings were considerably limited for bachelor students, in order to avoid new cases of hazing within the school.

Also many prevention emails have been and continue to be distributed to all students of the business school.

However, the emlyon could have handled this scandal in a more coherent way, in particular by "punishing" the students concerned: those on the Ecully campus.

However, they have benefited from their Integration Weekend. The management of the business school justifies its choice by mentioning the age of the students: students from Stephan and Paris are in a Bachelor's degree (bac +1 to bac +4) unlike Ecullois who have at least a bac +5, so they would be "more mature" and better able to manage a WEI without scandal...
