The word democracy combines the two greek words ‘’demos’’ and ‘’kratos’’ and it stands for ‘’people’’ and ‘’power’’ so democracy means ‘’ruled by the people’’. It first took place in the Ancient Greece where only adult males citizens of the city where able to vote, declare war, and approve treaties. These activities were only handled by men living in Athens; slaves and foreigners were not counted as citizens so they could not vote.

Currently there are 123 countries in the world that have established a democratic government. A democratic government is a government in which the power is given to the citizen of a country directly or indirectly, for instance citizens of a democratic country will vote for they political leaders, but they can also participate directly by referendum, it means that if the president wants to pass a law he can ask directly all citizens if they want the law to be applied. In 1933 Hitler won the election because he promised his citizen that he will get theme out of this situation by killing all the juiws. This, will create world war 2 in 1939 until 1945. Democracy is known for freedom of opinion, expression opens for extremist ideas that can become the majority, it may cause death. If instead the regime restricts freedom of expression, it will proves his weakness. That's why we can not defined a “best government” because every government have his force and his weakness. A democratic government cannot become tyrannical or a monarchy government. It is subject to regular and constant criticism and popular pressure. In Democracy, people are free to express what their want, and if they are not happy with the actual government they can debate with him, and maybe came out with better ideas.

To conclude, I personally think that Democratic government is the best way to govern a country because it permits people to express
