Idea of progress : what makes San Francisco an example of progress ?

Today I'm going to talk to you about the idea of  progress . The progess is a developpement of toward a better , more complet or more modern ? The idea of progress basically consists in believing that the world can become better in terms of art, science, technology, liberty and quality of life and has shaped most of Western civilisation's vision of history. Progress implies changes, evolution from an old order with old traditions to a new order which is not necessarily embraced by all. It may shake deep-rooted, highly-respected conventions and beliefs. As the rhythm of progress seems to have accelerated over the last few decades with an ever faster increase in major technological and scientific breakthroughs, the cult of novelty is now being questioned.
San francisco is an example of progress because many things change in this city .

What make San Franscico a example of progress ?
We will see the evolution of San Franscisco, at first speaking about the  gold rush  and in a second time its history, and to finish the change of mentality with the movement .

I ) Gold rush

1°  Gold rush in 1845 1855

   - the 49ers ( is the name of the 300 000 gold miner who came to the California from Amerca , America Latina , Europe , Asie and Australia .) -> provoked the rapid growth of the cities ( junary 1848)

During this periode many people research gold in the river to be able to have income because gold is a rare and expensive recource  . in class we see 2 picture ( one photo and on painting ) that illustrate the incredibely rapid developement of San Franscisco , progressing , from a smaller colonial town in 1847 ( population 1000) to the largest city in the west of the USA two years latter (1849  population 25000 ) . the cause of this developement is the gold .

   - Samuel Bramman is famous person , he is a rich man , he hava a import job  ,a merchant bought every pickaxe , became the richess man in California .

  - John Sutter is a famous man , in 1939 he make to america a dream build a agricultur empire , he has hndred of employers and 12 000 head of cattle .

- In junary 24th 1848 James Marshall discover th golg in the  Amrican river

2°  2nd gold of rush

 - In 2009 have a ew gold of rush

 - during this period there are the pople who create a buisness , like tool shop for gold diggers . He also sells new original products that is succceful near the buger . It's a good way to comeback during this time of crisis .

3° Levi's Jean

- the legends of levi's Jean , San Franscisco is the birdth day place of jean

- slogan is “ strengh , virility , and sex symbol

 --> the 19ers arrived and meet strong trousser , pants with metal rivet ,  they pantented the systeme 1873 first  Jean .

Levi's jean is revolution for the minner because the pants is more durable and resistant .

II ) History of San Fransico

1° Beautiful San Franscico

San Fanscico is became a city beautiful . After the big earthquake San Fransico to evolve from now on she has skycraper , build , time square are beaautiful . We can finf district various and the Golden gate bridge and this fact misterious with the weather , fog .
