This is England

During the film we can see that  Woody’s group and Combo’ s one have 2 differents way of life. On the one hand, Woody’ s group is made up because all the members want to spend a good time together like a family.They are always outside, for example they go to the swimming pool, or they play football in friendly and peaceful atmosfere.This way of life show us that they are open minded and they like to be in touch with others. They are always filmed in a full shot or in a medium shot. This angle of vew make un think that they are easygoing. We can see this shots when the group i shaving a drink in the cofee or when they are walking on the street at the beginning of the film. This way of fiming is also showing that all the members of this group have the same style : their heads are shaved, they wear large Jeans with docks marteens and a jacket, they are skinheads.Indeed, the Rites to be a member of this group consist in being dressed and caped like a skinhead,as Shaun, The protagonist, did.

On the other Hand the rite to be a member of Combo’s group is painful : the person have to tatoo a cross. The scene where Shaun did this rite is filmed with an extreme close up shot, by this shot we have the impression that it is very unpleasant. This is not the only think whith is filmed like that : the scene where we see Combo’s group attacking pakistani children is filmed like that, thereby we feel oppressed. Combo is always fimed in a low angle shot, it makes us ill at ease becaus we feel inferior, while Woody’s group is sometimes filmed in a hight angle shot. Moreover, Combo’ s group is always inside of a room, this confinement show that combo’s group have no communication with others, they are narrow minded since Combos group was created to build an ideology against immigrants, a racist ideology.

Combo’ s group show us that without communication and without exchanges a population is riding for a fall unlike Woody’s group who is mixed.
