Today we are going to talk about the notion of the idea of progress. This year, we have studied many document, we can link this notion. But to begin with we have to define the keyword “idea of progress”. The idea of progress is the theory that the different advances in technology and social organization can produce an improvement in the human condition. Progress implies change and evolution and throughout history most advances have been positive. We are going to answer the following question. How for is the notion of the idea of progress developed in the documents, we have studied in class this year?
This year we studied a time text entitled “my body, my laboratory” with tall about technological improvement in medicine thanks to the development of neurosurgery. These advantages can change the live of people and be linked to progress. Cyborgs and android how are better or stronger, using-new technologies, and roboting. A.I. is a technological advance which can become dangerous for future society. If it is not master by men. Robots are used today in factories, they can facilities people work but they have also downside like unemployment. Bionic limbs can be advantages if we compare with graft or organ donations, because they’re a gain of time.
We have studied the novel by Aldous Huxley “brave new world” published in 1932 when the scientist presents his evolution invention call “ bokanvoskification process” that allows to clone babies in eggs. This scientific evolution which is positive for a doctor can be very impressive and frightening. This is a scary vision of the evolution of society.
People can fight to make their condition better, to improve their life. Women like Rosa Parks or Kavita in the text “Another Girl” fight to improved women position in society. This is a very good example of social progress
To conclude we can say that man as always progress in history. Progress is part of us. But if progress can lead extraordinary innovation and change our everyday life sometimes there are some limited to progress. Humans have to be careful and pay attention to the respect of ethics.
