Should political parties promoting racialist ideas be censored?

Nowadays and ever since people have fought for their human rights, they have set up –in some countries- a system of democracy which allow them to choose their leader by voting. In the United States for example, the different political parties present their main election program to induce people to vote for them.

And some of them, when presenting their electoral program, say racialist ideas without regret, use fear to get votes, and more over allow themselves to use the recent acts of terrorism to accuse muslims. Should we, civilians allow those parties to step on all the common rights and let them express their point of view whether they are right and non-agressive or not? Hence the debate of letting them express themselves presenting all their ideas whether they’re meeting the standard or not, or censure them. In fact, we can see in an interview where a reporter interviews a political scientist (professor Clark) who presents the BNP (British National Party) which is an extremist party. This party has been founded in 1982 and has never had a real success until this past 10years when they accuse the immigration for being a real handicap for the country, which’s a racialist idea. But as the professor explained, since the rise of terrorism, like September 11, the fear and the incomprehension has made them win some electoral path.

The professor exposes here the importance of letting the members of the bnp express themselves and presents all their ideas. In a democracy everyone has the right to say what is on his mind whether the others agree with what he says or not.

It’s important to recall the fact that in Great Britain the freedom of speech is a very important right, being a democratic country state of democracy. Based on this, the president of Oxford Union invited the president of the BNP (Nick Griffin) to debate with David Irving, a novelist about political ideas. This debate has created angry scenes where a crowd of protesters were standing in the front gate of the oxford union shouting their desaprobation as we can see on the video published by BBC news which’s the only media that still exposes facts concerning the BNP. Indeed all the other media has censored the party. Besides, the BBC news has been really criticized for inviting the leader of the BNP in one of their main programs. Parliamentarians and common people want to censore the Bnp from all the media exposing the fact that this political party incites people to racial and religious hatred. Obviously, this kind of racial election program influences people by letting them believe and follow everything that is said. As everybody fights for the right to express all they want, racist parties should have the right to express their opinions and point of views.

Personaly, I think that political parties which promote racialist ideas should be censored as they convince people that the problems of a one country all come from the immigrants etc… And this kind of racialist ideas generates hatred and other values that should not exist in a healthy democracy.
