Introduction 

My name is Amandine MELIN, I am 20 years old. I am a second-year student preparing an HND management assistant on a sandwich course at la Faculté des Métiers in Evry. I have been working since 23rd August 2016 at Gautier Sérigraphie Numérique.

I. Company presentation

  1. The Company

I am completing my work experience at Gautier Sérigraphie Numérique. Their main activity is printing posters, car stickers, stickers and business cards. It’s a small Limited Liability Company (LLC). Today it hires 5 employees. It is located in Ballainvilliers. In 2016, the turnover was € 923 000. Our customers are mainly large companies, individuals, associations all over France.

  1. History

The company was created in 1986 by Mrs Marie-Josée Gautier. Following the retirement of our competitor, we recovered all of his customers. The company has invested in a UV drying tunnel (designed for quick drying of inks for ultraviolet resistance). The company has also recruited qualified staff in the field of screen printing. Screen printing is losing more and more in favour of digital printing. The most important competitors on the market are Décor Ader in Palaiseau and Megamark in Montreuil.

  1. Organisational context

During my work placement, I worked closely with my tutor Mr Laurent Gautier. He is the company’s CEO. My colleagues are friendly and helpful.I get along well with the CEO. He is friendly but demanding on a professional level. Between the employees, there is a family atmosphere, however there are tensions between the technical salesman and the CEO.

II. My internship

  1. Working Conditions

I work from 9 am to 5 pm. I have a one-hour lunch break between 1 pm and 2 pm. I work in an individual office right next to that of the CEO.

  1. My key responsibilities

I carry out various duties in three different fields; in accounting, I am responsible for registering purchase and sales invoices, receipts, credit notes with the accounting software EBP.I’m also in charge of phone reminders, paying our suppliers. I make bank reconciliation statements and fill in the VAT return every month.In administration, my main tasks are welcoming visitors face to face and on the telephone, writing letters and emails as well as archiving.In commercial, I am responsible for drawing up quotes and even prospecting for new customers. To carry out these tasks I can use a computer, telephone, scanner, fax machine and printer.

III. Analysis

A.        Obstacles

The human resources tasks are entrusted to an accounting firm in Corbeil-Essonnes. I regret that I can’t perform these tasks within the company. Although I learned a lot, I also realized that I have to improve my writing skills. I encountered difficulties familiarizing myself with the accounting software program.

B.        Achievements

Thanks to my placement, I acquired new computer skills on EBP software. I am able to prioritize my work. I learned to smile in any circumstances and to adapt to different situations and I gained autonomy.
