Oral bac anglais ASSP, work placement report

My Work Placement Report :

Good morning, my name is Prénom NOM, I'm Age years old, and I live in the northern district of Lyon, I'm an only child. This year I am preparing a B-tech National in healthcare at Nom du lycée Vocational high school then I want to continue my studies to become a nurse. 

I would like to tell you about one of my internships.

Last January,  I did an internship in a nursing care centre located at Lyon and managed by Miss NOM. The center employs 20 people : the secretaries, the nurses, the care workers and the cleaners. Most of the time I worked with a nurse or a care worker .

The care center is situated in the northern district of Lyon ; so I took the bus and sometimes the car to get there. Most of the time I was in the morning shift, I worked every day from seven am to one pm. Then I had lunch at home.

During this internship, we visited the patients at their home and we took care of them : for example I did their body-washing, I helped them take their meals, get dressed, I measured their temperature, their pulse and breathing. I also communicated with patients. We stayed about one hour with every patient. It's quite important to take some time with them ; very often it's the only moment during their day, they  can speak to somebody.

I really loved my internship but it could be exhausting sometimes both physically and emotionally. Some of the elderly people I worked with were really vulnerable and I became quite protective with them and got quite attached.

My mentor was particulary helpful with me she took time to explain and show me every task she did , for example when I had a difficulty with a patient, she showed me what I was supposed to do. I really learnt a lot.

I really loved this experience because I loved working with elderly people and I found the internship very interesting I hope I will work with them again because this placement was a very enriching experience.
