Pokemon Go is a real evolution of the gaming world, and leads the path to a new era of social gaming, where “real world” social action is embedded in the gameplay. Indeed, this game is an app using augmented reality in which you must capture Pokemons, small virtual monsters. You can find pokeballs at pokestop and train and make them fight in gyms. However, Pokemon Go can give birth to a debate around the question of the idea of progress. Furthermore, nowadays the progress is assimilated to technologies.

First of all, I will present how Pokemon Go can be seen like a breakthrough and positive game. Lot of journalists describes Pokemon Go as a monster hit. The game’s service was overwhelmed because of the massive connexion on the first days. Augmented reality enables us to see a virtual layer on top of the real-world environment. Many people born in 90s grew up with Pokemon, so when this game have appeared they felt nostalgic. Moreover, unlike other games, we have to go out to play. Indeed, Pokemon Go uses the GPS localization and encourages the players to socialize. In order to find Pokemon, we must search in our environment, it also makes you discover new landmarks, new places and our neighbourhood in this way we can develop our spirit of exploration. The players have the possibility to meet the other players in gyms for example. So Pokemon Go enables people to make new meets. It is a gleeful experience. Its benefits are illustrated appalling examples such adventures as which can arise everyday life, thus creating a new universe. Many people use Pokemon Go as a way to bring back a child-like spirit, indeed, in the street it isn’t surprising to see people cosplaying as Pokemon characters. Moreover, Pokemon Go has a positive impact on the economy. Indeed, it brings lot of possibilities to drum up business. A professor explains that footfall in shops might increase on a short term basis. However, Pokemon Go might rot generate business on the long term as the craze will fade out. The effects on business are limited as people might spend a little extra money but not enormous amounts of money on expensive products.

As far I’m concerned I downloaded Pokemon Go, so I’ve seen the different aspects of the game. Indeed, Pokemon Go is still debated between those who consider that it’s beneficial and those for whom it’s harmful.

On the other hand, I will present a negative impact of Pokemon Go. Today social networks are controlling our life, indeed now their image that they are reflecting on social networks is more important than our real life image. Indeed, technologies become more and more useful in our everyday life. Lot of caricatures are on internet. For example, a picture represents three adults. Their faces are inexpressive and they are in the same position, holding their phones in front of eyes, which we can’t see. They also seem oblivious to their environment, as if they were disconnected
