Economics aspect -

We , citizens , are the guardians of our own welfare. We are the one using , or getting used by Metro Express. But the government considered the actual demand of rails as granted , as such no surveys were made about the population priorities or whether they were going to use it . This project needs nearly two 200,000 , that is a seventh of our population , to simply cover its running costs. In a country , where car sales reach new records each year and considering the limited routes it will take , can it even break even? That's still excluding the high maintenance costs, bundling millions in the long run according to Defi express. And the govt deemed no interest upon the demand of the project .

And moreover , we are still unaware of the source of the 7 billion to be invested in this project. Because of the total of 17 billion needed , 7 billion still need to be invested by the state itself . Where will that money come from ? Taxes surely cannot be raised in our stagnant economy. Leaving us with two options . Firstly , we can take yet another loan , but our national debt of 246 billion disagree. Or even worse , we will be forced to divert money from other public sectors . Forced to reduce investment in other industries . This goes against the basic principle of the project, by lowering the economic development.

So we have the right to ask ourselves ," Can that money not be used in better ways ?" Well according to the ex President himself during the campaign , yes there is , FLYOVERS. It will cost less , there will be the same effect on the fluidity of traffic . Or another alternative is a bus lane, and Rs 10 billion could have been enough to modernize our road network , that counts in the bus lane as well as the investment in modern buses.

On the other hand, the metro might rekindle the 24/7 economy, give a boost to new activities and foster new developments in station catchment areas. That's still billions of money invested in this project aimed Encouraging the prospect of job creation and bringing in the fresh air so needed in an ageing economy .

But up to this point , only speculations can be made. The real verdict would be in 2025, and i cant wait to see that.
