How to be human does not seem to be an easy book to read. He speaks of a desperate woman, truly alone who has lost the taste for life, contact with other humans, trust. One day when a fox appears in his garden, a friendship weaves gradually. It is primarily fear that drives it. finally this little fox will give him hope. The desperate dimension still looks to be present in the book. It is not a fairy tale that makes you dream or gives the illusion that the world is magical and that there are charming princes and princesses, when in reality humans are imperfect beings. This poignant story presents the suffering, the distress and certain vices of humanity that sometimes acts with cruelty. We can also say that a human being can not be completely bad in real life, there can be no Manichaeism as we can sometimes find in fairy tales where there are good and kind of another side.
Personally, I can understand Mary who lives isolated from others, from humans, and that her only link is with an animal. I myself sometimes have trouble with some humans, and sometimes have more ease with animals that are they quite innocent, spontaneous and not conditioned by our society. The dimension with which I for example have trouble with some human is the fact that they can do harm expressed, which is not the case in animals
