Work Placement

I carried out a 10 weeks work placement. It wasn’t in the same company. My first intership was in a public utility, Hôtel du département, my second one was at Clinique du Millénaire. I worked 5 day a week with regular office hours from 9 AM to 5PM and I had a one-hour lunch break. The both were big companies with more than one thousand employees for the first one. The second company was smaller then the first one and had more than five hundred employees.

During my first work placement I had my own office, it was the former office of the financial manager. I was in charge-of tenduring. For tenduring I needed to check cost estimates from suppliers, for exemple “Aximum”. To see if there were no mistakes.

For my second intership I was in charge of Capital assets. The Clinique du Millénaire is in charge of accountancy of la Clinique Saint Roch. The clinic has recently moved to another place. So I had to pull the old fixed asset and put the new in the software and record it on the computer. This is Virtual Bookkeeping. My tutor gave me another task. I needed to develop a guideline for use of the software. The employees didn’t know how to process this software, so my tutor asked me to write the guidelines. I had to do three different operating procedures during my intership.

I enjoyed these companies because my co-worker was friendly and helpful. For the Clinique du Millénaire my tutor was strict, but he answered all my questions, and all of my colleagues were nice. For the future, I would like to become an accountant.
