Imaginez que vous travaillez en tant que modéliste dans une compagnie spécialisée dans les vêtements haut-de-gamme pour femmes JoyRay. Vous travaillez en collaboration avec une styliste, Kate Wilson  et un mannequin cabine,  Jane Barber sur la prochaine collection printemps/été.

Vous venez de recevoir par mail les croquis de deux robes dessinées par Kate. Elle vous appelle au téléphone pour vous demander de réaliser pour chaque modèle un prototype taille 38, un patron gradé de la taille 36 à la taille 44  et un dossier technique.  Vous désirez connaître les contraintes et savoir s’il y a une doublure. Vous lui demandez s’il est possible d’avoir un échantillon de tissu.  Kate a déjà envoyé quelques échantillons de tissus par la poste avec les contraintes. Vous devriez les recevoir demain. Le travail doit être prêt dans quinze jours. Kate aimerait recevoir les prototypes avant Noël.

Vous venez de recevoir les échantillons de tissu. Vous appelez Kate pour parler des dernières tendances en matière de couleur et de motifs. Vous évoquez également le choix de la matière. Vous choisissez ensemble deux tissus pour les deux premiers prototypes. Inventez une raison pour laquelle le troisième tissu n’est pas choisi.

Vous venez de terminer les prototypes. Jane les essaye, l’un après l’autre. Vous lui demandez de se déplacer, de s’assoir afin de savoir ce qui ne va pas. Imaginez un problème sur l’une des robes. Vous expliquez à Jane quelle modification vous devrez effectuer.

La styliste a reçu les deux prototypes. Elle a choisi l’un des deux modèles et l’un des deux tissus. Elle vous demande s’il est possible d’ôter la doublure afin de réduire le prix.

1. Un mail à un sous-traitant : Vous écrivez un bref mail à un sous-traitant ApparTel  pour commander la fabrication de 300 robes d’ici le 30 mars. Vous envoyez tout le nécessaire soit par mail soit par courrier.

Le sous-traitant écrit un mail au fabricant de tissu Marlex pour commander 20 rouleaux de 30 mètres, laize 140 cm,  d’un des trois tissus ci-dessus,  (inventez un nom).

Mary :  Hello ! Mary Homer speaking ! Who's on the phone, please ? 

Kate :  Hello ! This is Kate Wilson. I apologize for calling so early. Am I disturbing you ? 

Mary : No, that's all right ! How are you, anyway ? 

Kate :  I'm fine ! As a matter of fact, I would need your help for a dress for the next spring/ summer collection.

Mary : Sure, I don't have much work these days, so I would be delighted to work for you ! How can I help you ?

Kate : I have to create an elegant evening dress for young women for summer. It is supposed to be very flared, with a gore skirt. I'd like it to be knee-length, but the back of the skirt could be longer than the front. There are several darts around the waistband. As for the top, I am still hesitating between a strapped neck and a wrap over neckline. So, I'd like you to help me choose. I've already drawn the fashion sketches of two styles.

Mary : I've just received them. Thank you ! Do you have any specifications or a requirements chart ?

Kate : I've already sent you the requirements chart by post. You should receive them tomorrow morning. I enclosed some fabric samples in the parcel.

Mary : What fabric did you choose ?

Kate : It's supposed to be a lightweight fabric. I chose organdi with various prints : flowers , stripes and polka dots.

Mary : Is there a lining ?

Kate : I suppose we should add a lining, yes.

Mary : What is the quality grade ?

Kate : The dress is up-market (=high range).

Mary : May I have an idea of its final price ?

Kate : Its retail price should be about € 200.

Mary : So, what can I do for you ? Would you like to have a prototype of the two styles ? And after that, we will be able to choose.

Kate : Yes, please.

Mary : What size should they be ?

Kate : Size 10. I will also need a graded pattern from size 8 to size 16, and a tech pack.

Mary : Sure ! Is there any deadline ? When should they be ready ?

Kate : I'm sorry, the deadline is quite short. I would need the two prototypes within fifteen days, by Christmas. Is that OK for you ?

Mary : No problem. I 'm sure I can manage. I'll call you as soon as they're finished.

Kate : Thank you so much !

Mary : You're welcome !

Kate : I wish you a nice day !

Mary : Thanks ! Have a nice day too ! See you soon ! Goodbye !

Kate : Goodbye !

Kate : Hello ! Kate Wilson speaking ! How may I help you ?

Mary : This is Mary Homer.

Kate : Good morning, Mary !

Mary : I've just received the three samples of fabric. Thank you so much !

Kate : In your opinion, is organdi a good choice ?

Mary : Yes, that will be perfect for a summer dress. The fabric is good quality.

Kate : Which style would you like to start with ?

Mary : I'll start with the one with straps, because it seems easier to do, and I will use a basic pattern of a dress that I made three years ago. There won't be too many changes to do. I was wondering which fabric you wanted me to use for this dress.

Kate : Polka dots are becoming very fashionable these days. It's very chic. Stripes are also very trendy.

Mary : Yet, I'm not sure stripes would be a good choice for a gore skirt. As a rule, I prefer using stripes with straight garments.
