Hello everybody, today I’m going to talk about the snow sport industry in the USA.
The country of snow sport practice!
At the end of 2012 a study was conducted to assess the health of the market for snow sports in the USA.
First of all, I will introduce you what are the snow sports practiced and the share of the population in these sports.
Then, who are these people who practice these sports.
Where they enjoy the snow.
Finally, how they contribute to the industry of snow sports.
We can see three mains snow sports in the USA, Alpine, snowboard and cross country.
As you can see from the chart, the blue line represents skier. And we can see that half of the population practicing snow sports, skiing.
Two-thirds of the remaining population snowboarding.
Then, we can segment the population by gender and age.
About the gender, we can see that the men practice more snow sports than the women.
For example, 61% of skiers are men per 39% of women.
Generally, men practice more snowboard and women practice more cross country.
But we can see that between 13 and 34 years, the practice of skiing and snowboarding is majority.
With 50% for alpine, and 72% for snowboarding and 46% for cross country.
Now we will look at where people go to enjoy the snow.
As you can see, the Rockies are the region more visited of the USA during the snow times with more than 20 million visitors during the 5 last years.
But we can see, at the national sight the level of attendance has decreased between 2011 and 2012 with 10 million visitors in less.

After presenting you people who practice the snow sports, I will introduce you their contribution in the snow sport industry.
