Speech in favour of re-establishing gendre equality

Dear Citizen,

I introduce myself; my name is Jean McClellan, I am a doctor in neuroscience, but I am also the mother of a little girl and two twins. Until today, girls studied home economics, physical fitness, and simple accounting for households. Instead, the boys learned Latin, history, physics, and several other subjects. Girls are therefore pushed from an early age to become a "perfect wife", while boys will earn money.                      In my opinion, we need to get out of that patriarchal system that we have as a society.

I’m talking to you today through the radio to ask you to think about why women should have a bracelet that counts the number of words they say? Do men have that kind of device? Are men being coerced in the same way? The answer is no.  Indeed, for far too long, women have been denied basic human rights and freedom just because of their gender. It’s time for us to stand and take action to correct this injustice.

Firstly, because women’s voices have been silent for a long time, we need to empower women to speak out and claim their rightful place in society. Achieving gender equality is not just about women. Men also have a vital role. We need to encourage men to become allies and not enemies, to actively speak out about misogyny. Finally, we need to recognize that achieving gender equality is not a one-time event, but an ongoing process that requires sustained effort.

To sum up, the re-establishing of gender equality is not just a women’s issue, it’s a humanity issue. So, let’s work together to make a better world. Thank you.
