I’m going to talk about Big Ben, which is situated at the top of the Elizabeth tower in the palace of Westminster by the riverside of the Thames. It is clock tower but actually she’s out of function until two thousand twenty-one.
I will start by presenting the bell , after I’m going to talk the Westminster palace where the tower is based, in the third party i talk for the event which take place to big ben, and for finish i conclude by what I think about this monument
At first, this name was used to describe the bell at the top of the tower Elizabeth. The origins of the nickname come from a political who is called Benjamin Hall.
This bell was made in eighteen fifty-eight to Whitechapel, a London district. His weight is thirteen comma five tons. It’s the second bell in the tower, the first weight sixteen tons but it was fell and fissured. The bell is situed at ninety-six meter high. In two thousand twelve, for the Queen Elizabeth diamond jubilee all the tower has been officially renamed « Big Ben «.
Second, I’m going to talk about the Westminster palace in which Big Ben is based. The first construction of this is in ten ninety-seven but it was destroyed and rebuild many times, the actually rebuild is eighteen thirty-six in a neogothic styles by. It’ s also the place where the British parliament is based. (the common chamber and the lords chamber).
Third, I would like to present you the different events which took place at Big Ben. For exemply, at the New Year many people are gathering together to celebrate this. They are also the Big Ben challenge a course of twenty kilometer on the Thames, the depart and the arrival are at the bottom of Big Ben and many other events
As a conclusion, it may be said that Big Ben is one of the best symbols of London, because it represented the Britannic monarchy, the British culture through many films as James bond films.
