What’s about Alsace ? :

Alsace is an important and historic region in France. This region is at the border betwenn Germany and Switzerland. She has one million inhabitants. Mains cities are Strasbourg, Mulhouse, Saint louis, Colmar, Salverne. The history of this region is very interresting, during a lot of time, this region belonged to the German Empire (1870 until 1919).  

Strasbourg :

This is the most important city of this region. This city is one of the three European capitals with Luxembourg and Bruxelles. Strasbourg homes a lot of European institutions. Thanks to his history, the architecture of the city is very beautilful.

Strasbourg has also become a symbol of Franco-German reconciliation and, more generally, of European integration. The city gradually specialized in political, cultural, and institutional functions.

Strasbourg is also a large student city, its university, its major schools and its university hospital form a major university centre facing the international market with more than 20% of foreign students and more than 100 nationalities represented

European parliament :

It shares with the Council of the European Union the legislative power of the European Union. The European Parliament is made up of 705 deputies coming from 27 states.  The parliament has the control of the European budget. He represents more than 440 million citizens of the Union.  

These members are called european deputies. Elections, by direct universal suffrage, take place every five years.

Culture :

Alsace is an important region in terms of gastronomy and dessert  with very famous dishes (Flamenkuch) and pastries (Kougelhopf, mannala).

The city has many beautiful monuments (like the cathedral, le mont saint-odile, le château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg).
