This document is a poster with a text that traces the beginnings of fake news in France mainly,

until now and three photos are illustrating this text.

In this text, we learn that at the beginning, before the year 1450, the date of the invention of the printing press. Fake news circulated orally thanks to, for example, travelers, soldiers or servants. They also circulated in a written way, therefore mainly in the letters and finally in an instrumentalized way with, in particular, religion where songs could serve as spreading ideas even false ones; in this case we can talk about propaganda. Then, in the 1700s, fake news experienced a major boom and as we can see in these photos, where groups of people were creating new fake news in the parisian public gardens under the trees of Cracovie which means "un craque" to designate the lies discussed by these people called novelists. It is only in the 20th century that a few will analyze the stories and question them publicly. Furthermore, even if there was a lot of fake news in the newspapers of the 19th and 20th century, nowadays social networks and media accentuate this phenomenon of fake news and therefore make it more devastating. Indeed, we can now share and read informations from all around the world which are not necessarily true like this tweet for example which doesn’t come from Donald Trump but from an unknown user who pretended to be him. In addition, although freedom of expression has grown significantly thanks to our current technology, many users use this technology and internet to, on the contrary, undermine the principles of our society and criticize, harass, do bad things instead of good ones.

So, to conclude, fake news are really harmful for everyone since they are found all over the web in a whole bunch of different forms such as disinformation, conspiracy, rumors, lies, propaganda as we told you before with the example of the songs , and pranks. This is why it is important to always check the source of the information you’ve just read, heard or seen in order to be sure that it’s not false and to know that if you  repeat it there is no risk of defame a thing or a person. You mustn't believe everything people tell you !
