I 'm going to talk about the idea of progress. First of all l'd like to give a definition of the notion, because I think it's real important to know of that, in order to be able to talk about the concept correctly. The idea of progress, correspond to forward movement, advance and development or gradual betterment; especially: the progressive development of humankind. In order to illustrate the notion, I have chosen two documents that are all the both, of documents on the improve of the human species. Let me explain, the reason why I have chosen these two documents. It's really simple, these two documents complement each other, and I think that scientific advances must be considered, that it's interesting of look at it.

On the one hand, the first document is a cartoon which represents a selective breeding. It deals of eugenics that correspond to " the science which studies methods of improving the genetic composition of the human race by selective breeding". The cartoon draws our attention to the fact that, the scientificts try to make the human species identical following a selection of DNA sample. Those who possess differences are rejected, the goal is to improve men, by dehumanizing. The cartoonist is very critical of the idea of "perfecting" human genetics. Each of the "perfecting" men taken individually does indeed possess very pleasing physical traits by mainstream standards. There would be no reason to think that the man being rejected would be in any way a lesser human being. He warns us against the progress.

On the other hand, the second document is an extract from the book "Brave New World" published in 1932 by Aldous Huxley. This passage explains that we are in a fertilization room for newborns. Where young students follow the tracing of the Director of Hatcheries and Conditioners who has just created 96 identical twins thanks to a single embryo. He approves and stands for the idea of progress. He think it helps to improve the quality of the embryos, preventing drawbacks and ensuring the birth of healthy huma beings by eradicating any possible disease. Science bows down to the wish for a perfect human being, but to some extent, we should remain critical of scientific progress, as it can also crush all forms of diversity.

In both documents, the argument is the idea of a better world, where differences would no longer exist, and where only the quality of the government's expectations would be privileged. However, in the first document, the cartoonist criticizes this ideology, whereas in the latter, it is valued. The two documents studied correspond to the notion. Indeed, the idea of progress is above all the idea of a better world open to the development of man, to advances, to technologies ... In a way, although science can be a benefit, it can also prove to be a burden.

It is worth mentioning that, history is made of progress and evolution that have allowed the world to be what it's today. Thanks to advances in sciences, medicine become much more efficient and accessible. I cannot help thinking that everyone has the right to his chance and has the right to possess differences of his own. Progress is something good, but it is essential to say that man must be able to express himself freely, and to rise alone without being constrained.
