I am going to talk about the notion of idea of progress.

The idea of progess can be defined as an improvement. The progess can be view in therms of social, for example the situation of American African in USA was very bad some years ago while today everybody have de same right, as we can see in the English book page 96 which represents the idea of progess in caricature.

Therefore we can ask ourselves: what is the evolution of the situation of African Americans since the segregation of the caricature? To answer this question I will present the situation of African American during the segregation, then the improvement of their situation, finally we will see that today the situation is better but not really perfect .

The official abolition of the slave trade dates back to 1807 for the United States, but slavery persists by moving west and south. So that in 1830 there are still 2 million black slaves and in 1860, 4 million. The United States was thus one of the last countries to abolish what is modestly called the "particular institution". Practiced and expressed by blacks and some abolitionists in the North, the rejection of slavery and its abolition will, paradoxically, open up a long period of servitude, segregation and discrimination of African-Americans.

The Ku Klux Klan, often called KKK, founded on December 24, 1864, is a White Protestant supremacist organization of the United States of America. This clan is for god, the white race and the nation. He claims that it is God who chose the white race and feels a deep hatred for blacks in particular, but also Jews, Mexicans, homosexuals and unfaithful women. The clan symbol is a cross representing the blood of Christ shed for the white race.
K.K.K. has been accused of numerous murders, members are often proud to kill for the race and do not regret their actions.

The Jim Crow Laws is the nickname given to a whole series of bylaws and regulations promulgated generally in the municipalities or states of the southern United States of America between 1876 and 1965. These laws distinguished citizens according to their racial affiliation And while admitting their equality of rights they imposed de jure segregation in all places and public services.
