idea of progress
Plan
I am going talk about the idea of progress…
First of all, I would like to give a definition of this notion: The idea of progress can be defined as an improvement, a development or a change – a technical, scientific or social advance which contributes to making the world a better place.
This year in class we studied several documents about the idea of progress and I chose in particular “Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook” and “ICT at work” because they show the contrast, the advantages and the disadvantages of the progress.
In order to illustrate this notion, I have chosen to talk about the power of the social network and the addiction which follows that. With these documents, I will try to answer at “when the technologies are a part of our lives, how we can use them without bad effects?”
To answer this question, I will present the two documents and describe them to present you the interest of the notion.
Documents
-MARK ZUCKERBERG AND FACEBOOK
. Facebook offers a social network to share his life and stay connected with their friends
. Facebook offers also an addiction for the user concerning the abusive sharing of his life and a danger concerning his privacy
. In fact, Facebook has ruined career because a lot of recruiters watch the profiles of their employees
. Facebook is banned in certain countries because of that
-I.C.T AT WORK
. The teleworking allows to save time because we have not to take the car or the community transports
. The teleworking it’s benefits to organize his time, and give more flexibility to our life with family.
. The company can save money in the offices because they can be most smaller
. The problem resides in the isolation of the employee because he lost the face to face contact and the possibility to meet other persons
. The isolation is counterproductive, so in the long time it can be dangerous for the company
In fact, the social networks and the teleworking can’t be use without precaution because the social life of the users are always in danger when they share or when they lost a part of their life.
Myths and heroes
Plan
I am going talk about Myth and heroes…
First of all, I would like to give a definition of this notion: A hero is a man distinguished by exceptional characters as superior qualities or skills in any fields. If this man is fictional or unproven, it’s a Myth. So, we will talk about important and enduring persons or icons.
This year in class we studied several documents about the Myth and Heroes and in particular “the veteran’s homelessness” and “American sniper” to contrast and describe the American heroism during the war.
With these documents, I will try to answer at “The American heroism is real or is a myth?”.
To answer this question, I will present the two documents and describe them to present you the interest of the notion.
Documents
-VETERANS HOMELESSNESS
. The veterans have done the war and they have lived the horrors of the battlefields
. When they return on the American field the American people names them “baby killers”
. However, they suffer from the PTSD caused by the horrors of the war and to forget that, they take alcohol and drugs.
. In USA the taking of drugs is forbidden, the consumers can’t get some help for government medical assistance.
-So they can’t heal themseleves
-AMERICAN SNIPER
. American soldier as a hero
. He is proud, tremendous, valorous and strong
. His personality is very caricatural of the American vision of the hero and however, we can see the American flag in the first plan of the movie poster.
In fact, the heroism of American soldiers is real because they have fight for a cause determined by the government, and we have to respect them. However, we can contest the practices of their actions in the battlefields.
