The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall. -Nelson Mandela

Mandela is a Former South African president and a political leader who dedicated his life to fighting for equality. He spent 27 years in prison for opposing South Africa's apartheid system.

He was born in 1918, in what was then known as the Union of South Africa, a dominion of the British Empire. Even if the majority of its inhabitants were Black, they were dominated by a white minority that controlled the land, the wealth, and the government. It was a discriminatory social structure that would later be codified in the country’s legal system and called apartheid.

What the quote means, is that in order for one to receive satisfaction, one must be able to overcome failure to achieve success instead of never failing. He is saying that people don’t ever look at failing as a positive but as a negative. According to him, in reality people who have never failed will never learn the importance of rising after we fall.

So, by following the quote, Mandela was able to be the first colored president of SA and changed the way politics were handled in the 90’s. If he would have given up after he was thrown in prison, he wouldn’t have gotten SA to where it is today. It was his strive to get back up on his feet and fight for what he believed in, that got him to where he was.

If he was not able to rise after he fell, where would SA be right now ?
