Some people think that you can never become fluent in a language unless you have spent time living or working in that country?
In a world where everything is more and more connected and globalized, speaking more than one language is essential today.
Some people should know that language skills can only be acquired by staying or working in a country where this language is mainly used for communication.
I think that mastering any language is only possible if we have around us an environment of people speaking the same language.
First of all, to learn a language quickly, many tools are at our disposal: lessons, reading, writing in the language, listening to people speak that language, songs, movies and series…
Working or living in immersion in a country where this language is mainly used makes it possible to learn it more quickly. In addition, by interacting with "locals", people whose language is their mother tongue, allows us to understand and correct our mistakes and therefore to learn the language more easily. Of course, this will require very significant efforts to be understood and communicated or even to survive, especially at the beginning but then, we will manage with the words we know, we will improve our way of interacting with strangers to express our ideas or our emotions.
Speaking the language is sometimes different from what you learn in the vocabulary and grammar defined in textbooks. We understand and learn a lot through oral practice until it becomes natural for us. Indeed, the more we use it in our daily life, the more we can speak it fluently. The language courses and lessons we study throughout our schooling help to understand the basics but do not impart a practical understanding of the use of the language.
In summary, it can be said that the rules and lessons of language courses are only useful to a certain extent. However, to speak a language fluently, it is necessary or even essential to work or live in the country.
