THE BRITISH ISLES

There are two states British, the republic of and the United Kingdom is Dublin and the capital city of the United Kingdom is London.

The United Kingdom is composed of 4 notions: Northern Ireland on the Isle of Ireland and Scotland, England and wales on the Isle of Great Britain.

The main seas which surround the Isle of Great Britain are the Irish seas, north seas and the English Chanel.

The closes continental country to Great Britain is France. The fastest was to cross the English Channel is the channel tunnel.

The population of the British Isles is characterized by high density of population in England, which represents almost 80% of the total population of the island.

Elsewhere in Great Britain and in Ireland, the high density of population is limited to areas around a few big cities.

The largest urban area is the London metropolitan area with 12.14 million inhabitants. Other big cities are Manchester with 2.5 million inhabitants, the west midlands conurbation with 2.3 million inhabitants and the west Yorkshire urban area with 2.1 million inhabitants in England, InScotland, Glasgow with 1.7 million inhabitants and Ireland, Dublin with 1.6 million inhabitants. According to the 2011 census, the total population of the United Kingdom is around 63 182 000(sixty three million one hundred and eighty –two –thousand).

The UK’s population is predominantly white British.In the republic of Ireland 17% of residents comes from other countries. The total population of the republic is 4.6 million. If the great famine of the 18505 had not happened there would have been 17 million inhabitants.

The United States of America is big country the federal capital is Washington, D.C. There are 50states plus the district of Colombia.
