Notes on the podcast “Why do men wants six packs ?”

- definition of a six packs: are bumps in the abdominus rectus muscle which we bend when our lowest spine forward, they are two flat sheets of muscles that run in parallel along the front of the abdomen. We all have six packs but for some people , they are covered by a layer of fat that makes them impossible to see.

-the six packs has always been the king of the human physic especially for men who looked up to it.

On the beach or across the country, people will look for the six packs when they dont know necessary why they are looking. And it is the same in magazines.

-universal currency

-men want to look as good as they can and the six packs could help with that them because for women they have fashion, make up as opportunities to feel good about themselves

-it is indeed difficult to obtain the six packs and that’s why not many people has them which is why people chase after them because it is so rare

-it is a great goal to achieve but you dont need them to be actually healthy at the optimum level

-people think that men having six packs is a way to prove their masculinity without being told off about it

-the six packs has history because you can see them on Ancient Greece sculptures.

You can see that in male sculptures , the bodies and hard and muscular when the female body is something soft . There is a kind of contrast between the male and the female.

We look up to the legacy of how the male and female bodies are represented

-there was a also show in England where the aim was to find the perfect male six packs body

-women like looking at six packs, it is pleasing. Like for example the main character in fifty shades of grey has six packs. But when it comes to real life people don’t want a perfection in their beds, because they could be worried that they are not shaped enough.

-men can also buy fake abs like for example a Brazilian man bought half a million of surgeries for fake abs

-people also takes pills which are illegal and dangerous for your health because they are desperate to achieve their goal within the risk of loosing their lives

-social media are driving men to be part of the six packs community like Snapchat or instagram. People can feel more pressure and aware of the amount of people watching your profil and making opinions. People can get lots of likes based of their physic and they do feel the pressure to chase that

Personal reflection :

I think that because of social media and the perfect image of the male body, society has had during all those centuries, men wants to be perfection and the six packs can help with that. They want to look good maybe to attract male of female but they are also chasing the six packs to prove masculinity. I can get why people feel pressured under social media and opinions
