Introduction

 I am going to talk about the notion of myths and heroes.
First of all, I would like to give a quick definition of that notion. Briefly, a myth can be defined as a story about gods or heroes, it can be a popular belief or a tradition or a false notion. Then, a hero is a person admired for his achievements, noble qualities and great courage. Moreover, they can be fictional like Superman, Batman, or real.
To speak about this notion, I've chosen to speak of the place of hero in society. In my argumentation, I'll try to answer the question : “Why does a society create myths and heroes ?”.
First I'm going to explain how people become heroes and secondly time I'm going to show how this one becomes a myth.

I/ How people become heroes

To start with, everybody knows a hero, that he is real or fictitious.
These are known part their memorable actions, their courage either their talent like the students who want to go to the high school of performing arts located in New York.
They are often known by the media as talented Usain Bolt having the best world records in athletics, either singers, humanitarian workers and men of consciousness.
These celebrities have become heroes for their fans because they left nothing for any credit note for other the celebrity. But for it they made numerous sacrifices and work hard. 

A hero is not necessarily famous. That this can be a person of the family as for example our dad who fetches the ball stuck in the tree, thus he becomes our hero. Public services as police or fire brigades are also heroes for the population, they also make sacrifices: they risk their life. Among these heroes, we studied the case of Ana. She is a woman who left her family in Mexico to go, illegaly, to the United States. She earns money and helps her family stayed in Mexico. Ana is a   self-made man who starting from scratch and she climbed up the social ladder

II/ Show how this one become a myth

First, the American dream is most speaking myths. It is a legend for quite a long time, a Promised Land, a work on arrival, some money and thus the happiness. Many Mexicans thus put themselves this myth in the head and sound ready for anything to live him. Ana is thus a myth of the American dream of which she managed to obtain.
Nelson Mandela is also going to become a myth thanks to his fight for the equality of the blacks and the whites. He leads a very hard fight all his life. We can move closer to him to Martin luther King who leads a fight for the freedom of the blacks too. 

Finally, the heroes and the myths have a limit. In spite of Mandela led a fight against the disparity of the blacks, he was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1964.
The photo of "The Louisville Floob" of Margaret Bourke-White shows this limit of the dream American where people protest of the food to be able to eat. The photo debunks the myth of the US dream praising egalita rianism and equal opportunities.

Conclusion

As a conclusion, society creates myths and heroes to dream the best of the world, imagine perfection. And thereafter, it throws these fictional heroes in real life to have models and progress in the right direction. I think the heroes are a good way to set goals in life, to have an example to follow when we are lost. The desire of the unreal, dreams can also be a good point but be aware of the difference between reality and fiction since reality is often harsh.
