Notion Idée de Progrès

Introduction

l will talk about  « Idea of progree ».

To illustrate this notion, I take the exemple of climate change.

We are going to ask how do english-speaking countries deal with climate change issue 

In A first part, we will see that climate change causes significant consequences with the text Frankenstorm,

Then we will see that people are trying to educate people with the speech of Leonardo DiCaprio at the UNO,

and finally we will see that solutions exist to counter the natural disasters with the text Redesigning cities

1)

In my first part, We will see that climate change have consequences on the population with the text Frankenstorm. In this text, it describe a big storm during a night.

It's the « largest storm the planet has never seen » (as we can see at the line 8).

The storm is really big and, destroy home, car, families,...everything in it’s path.

For me, this situation is a chaos, violence, it's apocalyptic. It's a really big problem, because it’s the consequence of global warming and now the population are in danger.

The storm is is compared to a monster Frankenstein and this gives the idea that humans are responsible for hurricane Sandy

Now we will see that people are trying to educate population like Leonardo Di Caprio in his speechat the UNO.

He speak about concrets problems linfed to global warning as gases exaping, ice melting in Antartica, extreme weather, ...

His speech is very convincing because he uses real examples.

He is used to playing roles in fiction, but this time he is talking about a concrete problem, the survival of the planet. Moreover, if a celebrity like him intervenes in this type of situation, it is time to ask questions because they wants to change things...

For this, Di Caprio use image to pass a message and convince people to act.

3)

Finally, I want to show that there are solutions to counter natural disasters.

In the text  « redesigning cities », it is said that we can't stop natural disastears but somes precautious like limit global warming.

In this article, architects propose solution like :

        => using nature to respond to rising sea levels by extending manhattan with wetlands that the water and reduce force it approaches the city's streets. (l 25 30)

This progress helps protect people and reduce risks. This document shows that some people are trying to find solutions. The nature is stronger than man but we can find solutions and fight against natural disaster.

Conclu

To conclud, we can say the climate change is big problem a for society and population but some people are fighting to change things and try to find solutions for reduce impact and protect ourselves. We only have one planet and we must take care.
