I am going to talk about the notion of locations and Forms of power. First of all I would like to give a quick definition of that notion. Power is a strength or force exerted or capable of being exerted, power is synonym of might. It can be exerted by Justice, the media like television, radio or high political authorities per exemple.
Should we ban guns in the United States?
First I will present arguments in favor of weapons. Then why their use should be prohibited because too dangerous.
The guns are an element of the history of the USA. It's part of their culture because they carried guns to protect themselves against animals, the Natives. It’s a very big part of the heritage of the Wild West.
In 1791, the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution is written : "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." This amendment permits American citizens to have or to protect themselves.
An american citizen can have a gun and it symbolizes courage, power and protection. The National Rifle Association is extremely powerful and influencial in the US. The slogan of the NRA is « guns don't kill people, people kill people ». The NRA trains approximately 750,000 gun owners each year, and promotes firearm safety with its training courses and educational programs. To sum up, lots of people in the US want to keep their weapons to protect themselves. However it's not without consequences.
Indeed, a gun homicide would be committed in the country every two hours. More than 9,000 people are murdered in the USA. A country where everyone can easily get a gun, legally or not. In Colorado, if you are 18 years old and you have not committed a crime, you have the right to have a firearm. This example aims at showing how easy it is to possess a gun in the United States, and also how dangerous it is, and this in spite of the background control.
The problem comes from the multiple massacres on American soil. For example in 1999 in Colombine (15 dead) or more recently Orlando (49 dead). Each time Americans killed by an American who was able to procure a gun. Since criminals are armed, citizens also want to be armed to protect themselves. Neverless an armed man is more likely to shoot a member of his family than an aggressor potential .
To conclude, I will say that the gun control is a debate very complicated. Since the election of Donal Trump, it's even more intense and divides america.
